BBQ fans are eager to fire up their barbecues again and most BBQ enthusiasts will be familiar with the flavour manufacturer Ankerkraut - not least thanks to its barbecue spices, rubs and sauces.

The Hamburg-based company has been supplying spicy treats for barbecues, hobs and ovens since 2013. Ankerkraut's products are available in the web shop, in Ankerkraut stores and nationwide in food retail shops - not just in Germany, but now also in Austria, Switzerland and Denmark.

Move into Goodman's Hamburg South Light Industrial Park
With the rental of 4,500 m2 of state-of-the-art, flexible space in the second construction phase of the Goodman Hamburg South Light Industrial Park in Seevetal, Ankerkraut is continuing to expand. The property is in the immediate vicinity of the Ankerkraut's production facility, making it the ideal addition for the company in its quest to grow this location and safeguard local jobs.

A strategically attractive location

With the construction of the industrial park, spanning some 65,000 m2 in total, a brownfield site on the southern outskirts of Hamburg has been revitalised. It is perfectly connected to the road network via the A7, A1 and A261 motorways. The port of Hamburg is just 10 km away. This was an important aspect for Ankerkraut, since spices come to us from all over the world.

Comprehensive facilities inspired by sustainability
The guideline for the planning and construction of the second phase of the Hamburg South Light Industrial Park was the GreenSpace+ sustainability strategy from Goodman.

The roof-based photovoltaic system on the site will deliver an output of 2.6 MWp. Lighting is provided via LEDs, while smart meters will be used to monitor energy consumption - and the charging infrastructure will allow electric vehicles and e-bikes to be charged up with green electricity. A rainwater cistern will be used to collect rainwater.

A new development for Goodman is the installation of an air-water heat pump for heating, cooling, air conditioning and ventilation in the most recent construction phase. The systems are highly efficient - for each unit of energy consumed, they are able to release at least three units of energy. The system also uses a natural refrigerant.

The attractively designed surroundings not only promote the well-being of employees, but also the diversity of animal and bird species through green spaces, a planting concept suitable for species protection and insect hotels. With all these amenities inspired by sustainability, the property qualifies for DGNB Platinum certification.
