Goodman has signed two deals to take on 28.400 sqm of additional warehouse and industrial space and a land bank of 1.5 ha at the Port of Duisburg, the world’s largest inland port and prime European logistics destination.
The latest deals agreed with the authorities of the Port of Duisburg form part of Goodman’s global infill strategy, meeting increasing customer demand for strategically located space with easy access to large consumer markets. Situated just 6.5km outside Duisburg city centre and reaching 12 million consumers within a one-hour drive time , the area is attracting significant investment as a thriving mixed-use urban hub of office, residential, retail and industrial space.
Customers will benefit from proximity to the Port’s trimodal container terminal, which brings together road, water, and rail to create seamless global supply chain operations, alongside wider shipping, road and rail networks and public transport, while Düsseldorf Airport is just 25km away. This prime position makes it an established logistics destination, attracting a diverse range of customers from e-commerce and ‘last mile’ retailers to manufacturers and their supply chains including Audi, Hewlett Packard, DHL and Siemens.
The two new sites add to Goodman’s existing investment at the Port of Duisburg, taking its total leasable space across four assets to 116,000 sqm and providing the opportunity to develop additional 1.5 ha of land. Goodman has acquired an existing 28,400 sqm facility (“Duisburg IV”) comprised of warehouse and office space with a cross-dock area and direct railway access, ideally placed to serve logistics and distribution customers. In addition, it has also purchased an 1.5 ha land bank (“Duisburg V”) for future development. This land bank, a short walk away from downtown Duisburg and other major regeneration projects including The Curve, set to deliver new office, hotel and residential space in Duisburg’s inner harbour, will be suitable for a range of uses, from parking to standard logistics warehousing, or last mile e-commerce distribution.
