Goodman plans further expansion to serve growing demand for prime logistics space in Gro├čbeeren near Berlin

Tuesday, 22 August 2017

Property group Goodman, a world-leading owner, developer and manager of logistics real estate, plans further expansion of its capacity in the Berlin region. Goodman already owns a fully leased 34,000 sqm facility in the Berlin South freight village in Großbeeren, and will develop another facility with an area of around 13,500 sqm in this prime location. The class-A warehouse will be available in March 2018.

“The Region of Berlin-Brandenburg is one of the most attractive and dynamic logistics locations in Germany. The freight village in Großbeeren in particular, has excellent connections to trans-European transport networks and to the domestic market in Berlin. As in all logistics hotspots, the demand for modern logistics space in the Berlin region significantly exceeds the supply. Goodman has succeeded in securing one of the few available sites in the region in order to develop a high-quality logistics property, which will be available in early 2018,” said Christof Prange, Head of Business Development at Goodman in Germany.

The new facility, which is built to the German Sustainable Building Council’s Gold Certification standards, can be taken in its entirety or subdivided into units of 6,550 sqm. It will offer electrically powered loading gates, a hall height of 12 metres, a mezzanine capable of accommodating additional office space, as well as energy efficient LED-lighting with motion sensors.

“This property offers a rare opportunity to locate to the well-established, bustling logistics hub, which gives excellent regional and international access,” continued Prange: “Additionally, the region offers access to a highly skilled labour force, with over 200,000 people in the Berlin-Brandenburg region work in the transport, mobility and logistics industries.”
