Goodman Interlink Hamburg becoming a hub for the aerospace industry, with STUTE leasing a 5,200 sqm unit

Tuesday, 02 February 2016

Goodman Group (Goodman or Group), a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial property, is increasing its occupancy at Goodman Interlink Hamburg logistics centre located in the Finkenwerder district. The logistics service provider, STUTE, has leased a 5,200 sqm facility to store component parts for aircraft and cabins, and will join aerospace companies Airbus and Diehl Comfort Modules (DCM) at the logistics centre. Goodman has 4,500 sqm of space available for immediate lease at Hamburg Interlink and can develop an additional 10,000 sqm.

In 2015, the Hamburg-based aerospace industry experienced strong growth, which has helped to increase demand for logistics real estate. The Airbus Group, for example, delivered a total of 635 aircraft and received 1,036 net orders for new aircraft, which will be largely manufactured in Hamburg Finkenwerder and supported by suppliers within the Hamburg area.

Warehousing of component parts for aircraft and cabins

STUTE has signed a lease agreement for a 5,200 sqm unit at Goodman Interlink Hamburg. The logistics service provider will use the new facility to warehouse component parts for aircraft and cabins. Last year, Airbus leased an 11,500 sqm facility at Goodman Interlink Hamburg, with the aircraft supplier DCM separately leasing 13,000 sqm of space.

“Goodman Interlink Hamburg is developing into a hub for the aerospace industry and has the potential to cater to companies in a variety of different sectors due to the location’s excellent multimodal transportation connections. The location is also attractive for logistics service providers and players in machine and vehicle construction, trade, or the pharmaceutical industry, all of which have a strong presence in Hamburg,” explained Jordan Corynen, Goodman Regional Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Gold standard certification
The 5,200 sqm unit for STUTE comprises a storage area of 4,600 sqm as well as 100 sqm for office and social rooms. In addition, Goodman has integrated a 500 sqm mezzanine in order to increase the flexibility of its customer’s logistics processes. Like all units at the Interlink site, the facility will be certified to the current gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Goodman Interlink Hamburg is owned by the Group’s flagship European investment vehicle, Goodman European Partnership (GEP), and benefits from Goodman's in house property and asset management services.

Available space at Goodman Interlink Hamburg
Goodman has additional space available in the smaller to medium size segment at Goodman Interlink Hamburg. A 4,500 sqm property developed by the Group, with a hall height of 10 metres is ready for immediate lease. Furthermore, Goodman can develop up to 10,000 sqm of new space upon customer request. The port area in the Finkenwerder district also offers customers with excellent transportation links, providing direct access to the A7 motorway, two deep-water container terminals and the Hamburg airport.

Hamburg: Germany’s top region for logistics properties

In the study “Logistics and Real Estate Germany 2015” published by the research company bulwiengesa, Hamburg was named the most attractive logistics region in Germany. The success of Goodman in the development and marketing of Goodman Interlink Hamburg underlines this result. The report identified twenty-eight logistics regions and assessed their market attractiveness for occupiers, investors and developers. Hamburg performed especially strong in categories of user demand, return on investment and economic conditions for trade and traffic.
