Groundbreaking ceremony on the extension of DB logistics centre in Bingen, Germany
Together with Mayor Thomas Feser, the international logistics service provider, DB Schenker, and the property group Goodman broke ground for the extension of the facility in the Bingen business and industrial park, which will be expanded to a total lease area of 33,000 sqm. The storage capacity of the site will nearly double DB Schenker’s existing space, with the expanded facility to be operational from as early as winter 2015. DB Schenker will use the 14,500 sqm extension, with a warehouse height of twelve metres, for a well-known toy manufacturer. The property will also feature LED lighting and a specialised roof sealant to save energy consumption.

Goodman and DB Schenker began a strategic partnership in 2005 with the development of an 18,500 sqm logistics centre in Bingen. Ten years later, the companies are celebrating the extension of the facility that started an important partnership that extends across six countries, three continents and nearly 400,000 sqm of logistics space. Once all current construction projects are complete, Goodman will manage a total area of 450,000 sqm for DB Schenker globally, of which 262,336 sqm is located in Germany.
DB Schenker, the transport and logistics arm of Deutsche Bahn, is one of the largest transport and logistics service providers in the world. A group of this size regularly needs new, modern and highly-efficient logistics properties in order to expand or optimise its network.
