Goodman and Zalando today laid the foundation stone for the online retailer’s new logistics centre at Mönchengladbach’s Regiopark. Participants at the event included Garrelt Duin, Minister of Economic Affairs for North Rhine – Westphalia and Norbert Bude, Mayor of Mönchengladbach. Both politicians expressed their support for the project, which will create up to 1,000 jobs for the region.
Goodman, the global integrated property group that owns, develops and manages logistics space commenced development of the state-of the-art logistics centre for Zalando in October 2012. The foundation stone for the 78,000 sqm property has now been laid, with the first section of the warehouse to be handed over in April 2013. Overall completion of the project is planned for July 2013.
Together with representatives from Goodman and Zalando, the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Mayor of Mönchengladbach addressed invited guests, including public officials and the local business community. The location of Zalando in Mönchengladbach means that the city has gained another prominent brand.

After the successful co-operation on a 128,000 sqm sqm facility for Zalando in Erfurt, the Group is developing a second logistics centre at a strategic location in an attractive setting.
Speaking at the ceremony for the new facility, David Schröder, Managing Director MyBrands Zalando eLogistics said: “Our customers in the Rhine-Ruhr-area in particular, as well in Western and Southern Europe, will benefit from improved delivery periods.”
Together with the neighbouring industrial location of Güdderath, Regiopark is the largest industrial area in Mönchengladbach. With direct motorway access to the A61 and immediate proximity to the Benelux countries, it offers an excellent location for the distribution of goods throughout Europe.
