The city of Bremen has around 700,000 inhabitants and is located in the north-west of Germany. The Bremen ports are still an essential part of the city’s economy, thus the dock, transport and logistics industries are the most important industries. In addition, the automotive production, aerospace technology, IT, multimedia, and food and beverage industries shape Bremen’s economy.

The designated site is located in the freight village (GVZ) Bremen which represents the largest freight village in Germany and the second largest in Europe. Around 150 companies including logistics companies are located within the commercial area. The commercial area is connected to the federal motorways A281 leading to A1 (Osnabrück – Hamburg), A27 (Bremerhaven – Hannover), A28 (Netherlands border – Bremen) and A29 (Wilhemshaven/JadeWeserPort – Cloppenburg). Via the port “Neustädter Hafen” the freight village is con-nected to the federal waterway network. Bremen international airport is located south of the city.
