To support its last mile operations in Völklingen, Saarland, Amazon has leased a purpose built 125-vehicle facility developed by Goodman and committed to an early long-term lease extension at Goodman’s Völklingen logistics building.

Just 300-metres from its existing delivery station, delivered for Amazon in 2020, Goodman is bringing a brownfield site, formerly used for cement production, back into use for the new parking facility.
With capacity for 125 delivery vehicles, and featuring EV-ready infrastructure to enable future electrification of its fleet, the facility is designed to help increase the sustainability, efficiency and reach of Amazon’s last mile operations.
The parking facility and Goodman’s Völklingen Logistics Centre, benefit from direct access to highway A620, supporting fast access to the Saarland region.
Christof Prange, Head of Germany at Goodman, said:
“The new parking facility has also provided us with an opportunity to regenerate further brownfield land in the area, bringing it back into use for Amazon and the community. In a world with a growing population, urbanisation and land scarcity, we’re supporting Amazon to optimize processes, without requiring greenfield land. This is key to our sustainability strategy and commitment to circularity by reducing, recycling and reusing resources as much as possible.”
Christiane Blatt, Mayor of Völklingen, said:
“I am very pleased that both Goodman and Amazon Logistics continue to invest in the Völklingen area. The additionally acquired space offers enough room for the delivery vehicles and at the same time relieves the traffic in the public area. The conversion to electric vehicles envisaged by Amazon is also very welcome in terms of environmental awareness."
Construction of the new parking facility started in September 2022, with a handover to Amazon expected later this month.
