The Augsburg Logistics Centre, developed and operated by Goodman, is ideally equipped and offers excellent transport links, prompting the logistics service provider DB Schenker to extend their collaboration in the long term.
Augsburg, part of the Munich metropolitan region, is ideally placed to act as an important hub for national and international freight traffic. This led Goodman to create the top-performing Augsburg Logistics Centre in the freight park in Gersthofen (GVZ Augsburg) in 2017.
The site is only 2.3 km from the A8 motorway. The dense motorway network in the Munich metropolitan region allows for quick access to all regions of Germany and neighbouring countries. Munich airport is just under 90 kilometres away. What is more, a Container station is planned for GVZ Augsburg, which will further optimise links to the rail network.
One of the first customer, the international logistics service provider DB Schenker, has now extended their logn-term lease for four halls of the logistics centre. This covers over 40.000 m2 of storage, office and social spaces.
“We are extremely happy that DB Schenker, one of the world’s leading logistics service providers, has extended our collaboration in Augsburg,” says Dr Denise Schönfeld, in charge of Asset Management at Goodman Germany. “The key to our success is offering high-quality and innovatively equipped logistics centres at strategically important sites and we have also applied these criteria when developing the Augsburg Logistics Centre.”
In keeping with Goodman’s Greenspace+ sustainability vision, the Augsburg Logistics Centre boasts energy-saving LED lighting, solar panels and charging stations for electric vehicles.
