Amazon has been operating a logistics centre in Pforzheim for 10 years now. The commercial property was constructed by Goodman in 2012 and boasts over 110,000 sqm of total floor space, equivalent to around 17 football pitches. The lease has now been renewed for another 10 years. Both partners attach great importance to the issue of sustainability.
Known as the “Gateway to the Black Forest”, Pforzheim is situated between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, and is the location of one of Amazon’s fulfilment centres in Germany. The company was the first customer to occupy the commercial property, which was completed by Goodman Germany in autumn 2012 and offers 24/7 operability. The good working relationship has now led to the lease being extended by another 10 years.
“We have been running our Pforzheim facility successfully for a decade. We remain focused on the storage and shipment of large items. The STR1 logistics centre is a key hub in our Germany-wide network of logistics centres, but more than that, it is the workplace of more than 1,600 colleagues,” says Alexander Bruggner, General Manager at the Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Pforzheim. “We now look forward to the next 10 years of excellent cooperation with Goodman.”
“As well as always striving to offer our partners state-of-the-art facilities with the best cost-benefit ratio, we also adopt a cooperative approach to developing and managing our properties. This partnership-based philosophy allows us to forge long-term relationships with our partners,” says Dr. Denise Schönfeld, Lead Link for Asset & Property Management at Goodman Germany.
